Creating Laboratory or Diagnostic Orders

Entering Lab and Dx orders into the system correctly insures that they will end up on the Lab and Diagnostics Record Report.

Watch the video below for entering a lab that is reoccurring and read the notes below the video for more helpful hints about scheduling.

If entering an order for a lab that is routine but will stop after a specified time period Make sure to enter a stop date.

If entering an order with a changing schedule the titration schedule may be most important. For example once upon admission then once every 3 months for 6 months then yearly.

If entering an order for a one time only occurrence make sure to enter a stop date so that it will not continue to appear.

A schedule must be entered on the Lab/Dx order to make it appear on the report and remove itself once it is no longer needed. Otherwise you will have one time order labs on the resident POS for the entire duration of their stay.
